- „Herezja ariańska głosi, że Jezus nie mógł być Synem Bożym, a jedynie istotą pośrednią, pomiędzy Bogiem a człowiekiem. [Herezja ta] nie należy już do przeszłości. Jest szeroko głoszona również dzisiaj” – powiedział kardynał w rozmowie z niemieckim dziennikiem „Die Tagespost”. Zaznaczył, że problem ten jest szczególnie widoczny w krajach niemieckojęzycznych.
Kardynał podkreśla, że dla wielu ludzi chrześcijańska wiara w Jezusa Chrystusa, prawdziwego Boga i prawdziwego człowieka, wydaje się trudna do przyjęcia. – „Łatwiej jest niektórym przyjąć Chrystusa wyłącznie w jego ludzkim wymiarze” – stwierdził kardynał Koch. Dodał, że często powtarzany slogan „Jezus tak – Kościół nie” kryje jeszcze głębszy problem, jakim jest „Jezus tak – Syn Boży nie”. Kardynał przypomniał, że o tej kwestii mówił często papież Benedykt XVI.

According to Cardinal Kurt Koch, prefect of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, the Arian heresy is not merely a relic of the past but remains alive and widely propagated. The Arian doctrine, which denies the divinity of Jesus Christ, still has adherents, including among Catholics.
- „The Arian heresy teaches that Jesus could not be the Son of God, but only an intermediary being between God and man. [This heresy] is no longer a thing of the past. It is widely propagated even today,” the cardinal said in an interview with the German daily „Die Tagespost”. He noted that this issue is particularly evident in German-speaking countries.
The cardinal emphasizes that for many people, the Christian belief in Jesus Christ as true God and true man seems difficult to accept. „It is easier for some to accept Christ only in his human dimension,” stated Cardinal Koch. He added that the often-repeated slogan „Jesus yes – Church no” hides an even deeper problem: „Jesus yes – Son of God no”. The cardinal recalled that Pope Benedict XVI often spoke about this issue.
The contemporary repercussions of the Arian heresy were discussed by editor Paweł Chmielewski in his book „Old Heresies in New Clothes,” where he points to the revival of ancient errors in modern form.
