Ladies and Gentlemen,
In response to the media reports regarding the actions taken by the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office against members of the Historical and Research Association Triglav, we would like to state that:
It is likely that, as a result of a denunciation, the Prosecutor’s Office initiated preparatory proceedings involving members of our Association.
Upon receiving information about alleged irregularities, law enforcement authorities, namely the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office, responded appropriately and in accordance with the legal powers granted to them. As part of the investigation, they conducted certain procedural actions, including, among others, searches of the Association’s premises and the residences of some of its members, as well as securing items that might be relevant to the case.
Among the secured items were historical artifacts from archaeological research and searches carried out based on decisions issued by the competent Provincial Conservator of Monuments. These artifacts were in the process of being analyzed by an archaeologist. Additionally, as a result of the actions taken, artifacts that were in the custody of the Nowy Dwór museum, also undergoing analysis by an archaeologist, were secured. All documents confirming these facts have already been or will soon be presented to law enforcement authorities.
The members of the Association are actively cooperating with law enforcement representatives (see point 3) to clarify the situation as quickly as possible.
At present, the proceedings are being conducted in relation to a case, not against any individual members of the Association. This means that the authorities are verifying the hypothesis of possible irregularities in the Association’s activities.
We would like to assure that all actions of the Association were conducted legally, based on decisions issued by the relevant authorities, and under the supervision of conservation and museum institutions.
Due to the interest of the ongoing proceedings and the restrictions outlined in Article 241 of the Penal Code, we are unable to provide additional information on the matter.
We will continue to provide updates on the progress of the investigation to the extent permitted by the law.
Piotr Duda
Acting President of SHB Triglav
