Powiat reprezentowali starosta Magdalena Biernacka, przewodniczący Rady Powiatu Marcin Gągolewski oraz przedstawiciele Młodzieżowej Rady Powiatu. W uroczystościach tradycyjnie uczestniczyła także delegacja Związku Oficerów Rezerwy Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej.
Podczas oficjalnej części obchodów głos zabrała starosta Magdalena Biernacka. Podziękowała gospodarzom i organizatorom za coroczny trud, serce wkładane w przygotowanie uroczystości oraz dbałość o lokalną historię i tradycję. Słowa wdzięczności skierowała również do mieszkańców i gości, którzy licznie zgromadzili się, by wspólnie uczcić rocznicę.
Bitwa nad Wkrą toczyła się w dniach 14–18-VIII-1920 r. i stanowiła jeden z kluczowych epizodów Bitwy Warszawskiej. Polska 5 Armia pod dowództwem gen. Władysława Sikorskiego, licząca około 22 tysiące bagnetów, stoczyła ciężkie walki z przeważającymi siłami sowieckimi dążącymi do sforsowania Wisły na północ od Warszawy. Główne uderzenie wykonała grupa gen. Franciszka Krajowskiego. Polacy opanowali linię kolejową Modlin–Mława, zdobyli Nasielsk, a udany wypad 203 pułku ułanów na Ciechanów pozbawił łączności dowództwo IV Armii sowieckiej. Zwycięstwo 5 Armii zabezpieczyło stolicę od północy i umożliwiło Naczelnemu Dowództwu przeprowadzenie przełomowego manewru znad Wieprza.
Memory on the Wkra
Ceremonies commemorating the 106th anniversary of the Battle of the Wkra took place in Nowy Dwór County. The day became an opportunity to pay respect to the soldiers who in August 1920 fought for the freedom of the Homeland.
The county was represented by Starost Magdalena Biernacka, Chairman of the County Council Marcin Gągolewski and representatives of the Youth County Council. A delegation of the Association of Reserve Officers of the Polish Commonwealth also traditionally took part in the ceremonies.
During the official part of the celebrations Starost Magdalena Biernacka took the floor. She thanked the hosts and organizers for their annual effort, the heart put into preparing the ceremonies and their care for local history and tradition. Words of gratitude were also addressed to the residents and guests who gathered in large numbers to jointly honour the anniversary.
The Battle of the Wkra was fought on 14–18 August 1920 and constituted one of the key episodes of the Battle of Warsaw. The Polish 5th Army under the command of Gen. Władysław Sikorski, numbering about 22 thousand bayonets, fought heavy battles against superior Soviet forces seeking to force the Vistula north of Warsaw. The main strike was delivered by the group of Gen. Franciszek Krajowski. The Poles seized the Modlin–Mława railway line, captured Nasielsk, and a successful raid by the 203rd Uhlan Regiment on Ciechanów deprived the command of the Soviet 4th Army of communications. The victory of the 5th Army secured the capital from the north and enabled the Supreme Command to carry out the decisive manoeuvre from the Wieprz.
