Fr. Dolindo Retreats: in Gietrzwałd, Mary and the Splendor of Christianity
At the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Gietrzwałd, extraordinary spiritual retreats titled “Fr. Dolindo – Mary’s Chosen One” are currently underway. The retreat leader is Fr. Prof. Robert Skrzypczak – a respected theologian, preacher, academic lecturer, and contributor to the monthly magazine “Wpis,” as well as author of books published by Biały Kruk.
His latest book, “The Splendor of Christianity,” provided the thematic foundation for many of the retreat’s reflections. This work explores the spiritual richness of Christian civilization, the value of prayer and sacraments, the need for conversion, and the struggle against modern-day crises. The entire retreat series has been recorded and is available exclusively on the Biały Kruk YouTube channel.
Throughout the retreat, Fr. Prof. Skrzypczak passionately introduced the life and spirituality of Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo – an Italian mystic and ascetic known for his heroic trust in Divine Mercy and the famous prayer of surrender, “Jesus, You take over.” His message emphasized complete devotion to the Blessed Mother and understanding her as the guide leading believers to Jesus.
The retreat also invited deeper reflection on the Christian faith as a revealed truth and way of life, grounded in love of God and neighbor. A central figure in the teaching was Saint John Paul II, invoked as a model of Marian spirituality and a staunch defender of Christian values. He was presented as a pope deeply committed to Mary – Totus Tuus – and one who recognized the necessity of entrusting oneself and the Church to her maternal care.
