Parafia św. Małgorzaty w Leoncinie poinformowała, że zakończono remont jednej z wież kościoła. W nadchodzącym tygodniu rozpocznie się remont drugiej wieży. Równocześnie parafia oczekuje na pozwolenie od Wojewódzkiego Konserwatora Zabytków na osuszenie fundamentów świątyni.
Kościół parafialny pod wezwaniem św. Małgorzaty D. M. w Leoncinie, zlokalizowany na południowo-wschodnim krańcu wsi na wzgórzu, jest świątynią orientowaną w typie bazyliki, z dwiema wieżami na fasadzie. Został wybudowany w latach 1881-1886 według projektu architekta Franciszka Braumana w stylu neogotyckim. Budowę świątyni rozpoczęto z inicjatywy ks. Hipolita Nowińskiego. Kościół przetrwał liczne trudności, w tym zniszczenia podczas I wojny światowej, kiedy to ucierpiał dach nad nawą główną oraz sklepienie nawy i zakrystii. Odbudowa kościoła, w tym wież o obniżonej wysokości, miała miejsce w latach 1920-1923.
Świątynia w Leoncinie, z cmentarzem rozciągającym się za ogrodzeniem, jest wpisana do rejestru zabytków nr 1052/1045 z dnia 18 lutego 1974r. Kościół zachował swoje historyczne walory architektoniczne, a w jego wnętrzu nadal można podziwiać pierwotną dekorację malarską prezbiterium.
Tower Renovation in the Church of St. Margaret in Leoncin
The parish of St. Margaret in Leoncin announced that the renovation of one of the church towers has been completed. Next week, the renovation of the second tower will begin. The parish is also waiting for permission from the Provincial Conservator of Monuments to dry the foundations of the church.
The parish church dedicated to St. Margaret D. M. in Leoncin, located on the southeastern edge of the village on a hill, is an oriented basilica-type church with two towers on the facade. It was built between 1881-1886 according to the design of architect Franciszek Brauman in the Neo-Gothic style. The construction of the church was initiated by Fr. Hipolit Nowiński. The church survived numerous difficulties, including damage during World War I, when the roof over the main nave and the vault of the nave and sacristy were destroyed. The church was rebuilt, including towers at a reduced height, in the years 1920-1923.
The church in Leoncin, with a cemetery stretching behind the fence, is listed in the register of monuments No. 1052/1045 as of February 18, 1974. The church has retained its historical architectural qualities, and its interior still displays the original painting decoration of the presbytery.
