Pięćset lat po włączeniu Mazowsza do Korony Królestwa Polskiego historycy, archiwiści i badacze spotkają się w Liwie, by rozmawiać o jednym z najważniejszych momentów w dziejach regionu. W programie znajdą się zarówno zagadnienia polityczne i militarne, jak i pytania o tajemniczą śmierć ostatniego Piasta mazowieckiego.
W dniach 22–23-V-2026r. w Muzeum Zbrojownia na Zamku w Liwie odbędzie się ogólnopolska konferencja naukowa „De rebus Mazoviae discursus”, organizowana z okazji D rocznicy inkorporacji Mazowsza do Korony Królestwa Polskiego.
Wydarzenie przygotowują wspólnie Instytut Historii Uniwersytetu Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego w Warszawie, Archiwum Główne Akt Dawnych oraz Muzeum Zbrojownia na Zamku w Liwie. W skład komitetu organizacyjnego weszli prof. Jolanta M. Marszalska, prof. Janusz Grabowski, ks. prof. Waldemar Graczyk oraz dyrektor zamku Eliza Czapska.
Konferencja zgromadzi naukowców z ośrodków akademickich z Warszawy, Krakowa, Poznania, Wrocławia i Gdańska. Dwudniowe obrady poświęcone będą historii i dziedzictwu Mazowsza, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem procesu jego włączenia do państwa polskiego w 1526r.
Program obejmuje panele dotyczące polityki, dynastii, wojskowości, roli Kościoła oraz kultury piśmienniczej XV i XVI wieku. Wśród tematów znajdą się m.in. początki Mazowsza w monarchii pierwszych Piastów, kwestie prawne lenna płockiego oraz militarne znaczenie regionu.
Jednym z najbardziej intrygujących punktów konferencji mają być rozważania prof. Janusza Grabowskiego dotyczące śmierci Janusza III – ostatniego Piasta mazowieckiego – oraz legend o możliwym otruciu księcia.
Organizatorzy podkreślają, że wydarzenie ma stanowić nie tylko naukową debatę, ale również przypomnienie znaczenia Mazowsza w historii państwa polskiego.
Mazovia returns to Liw – historians to debate the fate of the duchy and the Crown
Five hundred years after Mazovia was incorporated into the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland, historians, archivists, and researchers will gather in Liw to discuss one of the most important moments in the region’s history. The program will include political and military issues, as well as questions surrounding the mysterious death of the last Mazovian Piast ruler.
On May 22–23, 2026, the National Scientific Conference “De rebus Mazoviae discursus” will take place at the Museum Armory at Liw Castle in Liw, marking the 500th anniversary of Mazovia’s incorporation into the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland.
The event is organized jointly by the Institute of History of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, the Central Archives of Historical Records, and the Museum Armory at Liw Castle. The organizing committee includes Professor Jolanta M. Marszalska, Professor Janusz Grabowski, Father Professor Waldemar Graczyk, and Eliza Czapska, director of Liw Castle.
The conference will bring together scholars from academic centers in Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Wrocław, and Gdańsk. The two-day sessions will focus on the history and heritage of Mazovia, with particular emphasis on its incorporation into the Polish state in 1526.
The program includes panels devoted to politics, dynasties, military affairs, the role of the Church, and literary culture in the 15th and 16th centuries. Topics will include the origins of Mazovia within the monarchy of the first Piasts, legal conditions of the Płock fiefdom, and the military significance of the region.
One of the most intriguing parts of the conference will be Professor Janusz Grabowski’s discussion concerning the death of Janusz III, the last Mazovian Piast, and the legends surrounding a possible poisoning.
Organizers emphasize that the event is intended not only as an academic debate, but also as a reminder of Mazovia’s importance in the history of the Polish state.
