Stroje z epoki, patriotyczny duch i klimat Sejmu Czteroletniego – tak wyglądał szkolny apel z okazji Narodowego Święta Konstytucji 3 Maja w Szkole Podstawowej w Modlinie Starym.
W inscenizacji przeplatały się współczesność z duchem przeszłości. Zatopiony w rozmyślaniach uczeń widzi oczyma wyobraźni Chochlika, który cofa czas i przenosi go do XVIII wieku. Chłopak obserwuje korowód barwnych postaci: szlachty i mieszczan, którzy z determinacją walczą o wiatr odnowy, którą niewątpliwie była Konstytucja 3 Maja. Pierwsza w Europie a druga na świecie – nadal jest powodem naszej chluby. Choć obowiązywała zaledwie rok była mocnym akcentem naszego umiłowania wolności i równości.
Zwieńczeniem apelu było spektakularne wykonanie poloneza. Aktorzy ruszyli do tańca niczym bohaterowie epopei narodowej w myśl frazy Podkomorzego – „Poloneza czas zacząć!”.
Time Goblin and the polonaise of liberty – a school journey to the Great Sejm
A school celebration of the May 3 National Holiday took the form of an imaginative historical performance. Period costumes, noble kontushes, a patriotic spirit, and a stage stylized as the Great Sejm immersed students and teachers in the atmosphere of 1791, when the first European and second worldwide constitution was adopted.
The centerpiece of the play was a modern student, whose thoughts on Polish history were interrupted by the sudden appearance of a mysterious Goblin. This fairy-tale guide transported the boy to the realities of the 18th century. There, he witnessed a procession of characters – nobles, townspeople, MPs, and thinkers – who fought passionately for reform in the Polish Commonwealth. Echoing the ambiance of the Four-Year Sejm, the student performers recalled not only the political context but also the spiritual depth of the Constitution of May 3.
Touching scenes alternated with reflections on the present day. The themes of freedom, equality, and responsibility for one’s homeland resonated with emotional force, inspiring a renewed sense of national pride and identity among the students.
The highlight of the celebration was a spectacular performance of the polonaise – the national dance, which in this performance took on exceptional significance. As the music began, the student-actors moved gracefully across the floor, embodying the heroes of Mickiewicz’s “Pan Tadeusz” and quoting the Podkomorzy’s famous words: – “Let the Polonaise begin!” It was a symbolic finale to a school celebration that blended knowledge with emotion, memory with the present, and tradition with youthful energy.
