Żołnierze z 2. Mazowieckiego Pułku Saperów włączyli się w ogólnopolską akcję „Żołnierska Pamięć”. W ramach inicjatywy uporządkowali groby i zapalili znicze w miejscach szczególnie ważnych dla historii ich jednostki i Polski.
Delegacje pułku odwiedziły przede wszystkim Cmentarz w Palmirach – miejsce pamięci narodowej, gdzie spoczywa ponad 2000 Polaków zamordowanych przez Niemców w latach 1939–1943. Saperzy uporządkowali także grób patrona swojej jednostki, oddając hołt jego pamięci.
Nie zapomniano o współczesnych bohaterach. Żołnierze zapalili znicze na grobach kolegów z 2. Pułku Saperów, którzy polegli na misjach zagranicznych. Odwiedzili także pomniki upamiętniające ofiarną służbę poległych żołnierzy, czcząc w ten sposób tradycję i etos saperów służących Rzeczypospolitej.
Sappers for Memory
Soldiers from the 2nd Masovian Sapper Regiment joined the nationwide „Soldier’s Memory” campaign. As part of the initiative, they cleaned graves and lit candles in places particularly important to the history of their unit and Poland.
Regimental delegations visited primarily the Cemetery in Palmiry – a site of national memory where over 2,000 Poles murdered by the Germans between 1939 and 1943 rest. The sappers also cleaned the grave of their unit’s patron, paying homage to his memory.
The modern heroes were not forgotten. The soldiers lit candles on the graves of their comrades from the 2nd Sapper Regiment who fell on foreign missions. They also visited monuments commemorating the sacrificial service of fallen soldiers, honoring in this way the tradition and ethos of the sappers serving the Polish Commonwealth.
