23 września o 6.00 wiecz. w warszawskim Klubie Stańczyka przy ul. Pięknej 28/34 odbędzie się spotkanie pt. „Polskość na Kresach Rzeczpospolitej. Czy misja cywilizacyjna na Wschodzie została przegrana?”. – To próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy po 17 września 1939 roku, a następnie utraceniu Ziem Wschodnich przez Polskę, nasza ostateczna misja została przegrana – zapowiadają organizatorzy. Prelekcję wygłosi Adam Hlebowicz, dziennikarz, historyk i wieloletni dyrektor Biura Edukacji Narodowej IPN.
Hlebowicz jest uznanym ekspertem w zakresie tematyki kresowej. – To pasjonat i autor książek „Podróż na Wschód” oraz „Zostali na Wschodzie. Słownik inteligencji polskiej w ZSRS 1945–1991” – przypominają organizatorzy. Uczestnictwo w spotkaniu wymaga wcześniejszej rejestracji przez stronę internetową klubu. Mission in the East: Did Poland Lose Its History?
The Stańczyk Club undertakes one of the most difficult topics in Polish history. On Tuesday, Warsaw intellectuals will meet to discuss the heritage of the Eastern Borderlands. The starting point will be a provocative question about the defeat of Poland’s civilizing mission.
On September 23 at 6:00 p.m., the Stańczyk Club in Warsaw at 28/34 Piękna Street will host a meeting titled „Polishness in the Borderlands of the Commonwealth. Was the Civilizing Mission in the East Lost?” „This is an attempt to answer whether after September 17, 1939, and then Poland’s loss of the Eastern Territories, our ultimate mission was defeated,” announce the organizers. The lecture will be delivered by Adam Hlebowicz, a journalist, historian, and long-time director of the National Education Office of the IPN.
Hlebowicz is a recognized expert on Borderlands topics. „He is an enthusiast and author of the books 'Journey to the East’ and 'They Stayed in the East. A Dictionary of the Polish Intelligentsia in the USSR 1945–1991,'” remind the organizers. Participation in the meeting requires prior registration through the club’s website. The meetings of the Stańczyk Club serve as a platform for exchanging thoughts on the most important issues of Poland’s history and present.
