W piątek 6-XI-2026r. o 6.00 wiecz. w Miejsko-Gminnym Ośrodku Kultury w Sochocinie odbędzie się premiera książki „Wysiedlenie mieszkańców Sochocina – marzec 1941”. Jej autorką jest Dorota Grzechocińska, członek Rady Fundacji Fort III Pomiechówek. Uczestnicy spotkania otrzymają bezpłatny egzemplarz publikacji, do wyczerpania nakładu.
Premiera przypada w 85. rocznicę wydarzeń. W marcu 1941 roku mieszkańcy Sochocina zostali wysiedleni i wywiezieni do Fortu III w Pomiechówku.
Book on the deportation of Sochocin residents to Fort III
On Friday, November 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the Municipal and Communal Cultural Center in Sochocin will host the launch of the book “Wysiedlenie mieszkańców Sochocina – marzec 1941” (The Expulsion of Sochocin’s Residents – March 1941). It was written by Dorota Grzechocińska, a member of the Board of the Fort III Pomiechówek Foundation. Those attending will receive a free copy of the publication while supplies last.
The launch marks the 85th anniversary of the events. In March 1941, residents of Sochocin were expelled from their homes and taken to Fort III in Pomiechówek. The foundation stresses that this is not only local history, but a dramatic example, exceptional in its scale, of German expulsion policy in Polish lands during World War II. The book recalls how those events unfolded and the fates of the people they affected. Dorota Grzechocińska’s authorship is, as the foundation puts it, its contribution to the creation and publication of the book.
The meeting will open with an introduction to the publication by Piotr Jeżółkowski, president of the Fort III Pomiechówek Foundation. The author will also speak, as will the creator of the graphics, Piotr Dąbrowski, president of the Nobiscum Foundation. The program also includes the opening of two exhibitions prepared by Gabriela Nowak-Dąbrowska: “Wartime Portraits – Residents of the Town and Municipality of Sochocin in Archival Documents,” from the collections of the State Archives in Płock, and “10 Minutes to Live – the Deportation of Sochocin’s Residents in 1941 in the Accounts of Survivors.”
The event is hosted by Jacek Podgórski, mayor of the town and municipality of Sochocin, the Fort III Pomiechówek Foundation and the Municipal and Communal Cultural Center in Sochocin.
