20-VIII-2026 r. o godz. 12.00 w poł. na Cmentarzu Parafialnym w Nasielsku odbędzie się uroczystość odznaczenia grobu śp. kaprala Pawła Brodzikowskiego insygniami Orderu Krzyża Wojskowego. Żołnierz poległ podczas wykonywania zadań służbowych w ramach Polskiego Kontyngentu Wojskowego w Afganistanie.
Paweł Brodzikowski urodził się 6-III-1983 r. W 2002 r. rozpoczął służbę wojskową w 15. Brygadzie Zmechanizowanej w Orzyszu. Od 2008 r. pełnił obowiązki kierowcy-sanitariusza w 2. Mazowieckiej Brygadzie Saperów w Kazuniu. W tym samym roku wyjechał na III zmianę Polskiego Kontyngentu Wojskowego w Afganistanie. Poległ 20-VIII-2008 r. w wyniku eksplozji improwizowanego ładunku wybuchowego podczas wykonywania zadania bojowego.
Za czyny bojowe połączone z wyjątkową ofiarnością i odwagą został pośmiertnie odznaczony przez Prezydenta Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej Krzyżem Kawalerskim Orderu Krzyża Wojskowego oraz mianowany do stopnia kaprala przez Ministra Obrony Narodowej.
Uroczystość wpisuje się w projekt „Pamięć Orderu” realizowany przez Centrum Weterana Działań poza Granicami Państwa. Jego celem jest upamiętnienie miejsc pochówku kawalerów Orderu Krzyża Wojskowego poprzez umieszczanie na nagrobkach insygniów tego odznaczenia.
Order Krzyża Wojskowego należy do najwyższych odznaczeń wojskowych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Przyznawany jest za wybitne czyny bojowe oraz męstwo wykazane podczas działań przeciwko aktom terroryzmu poza granicami państwa. Od ustanowienia w 2006 r. otrzymało go niespełna 200 osób, z czego blisko 30 procent pośmiertnie.
Insignia of the Order on the hero’s grave in Nasielsk
On 20-VIII-2026 at 12.00 noon at the Parish Cemetery in Nasielsk a ceremony will take place to place the insignia of the Order of the Military Cross on the grave of the late Corporal Paweł Brodzikowski. The soldier fell while performing official duties within the Polish Military Contingent in Afghanistan.
Paweł Brodzikowski was born on 6-III-1983. In 2002 he began military service in the 15th Mechanised Brigade in Orzysz. From 2008 he served as a driver-medic in the 2nd Mazovian Engineer Brigade in Kazuń. In the same year he left for the 3rd rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Afghanistan. He fell on 20-VIII-2008 as a result of the explosion of an improvised explosive device while carrying out a combat task.
For combat deeds combined with exceptional dedication and courage he was posthumously awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Military Cross by the President of the Republic of Poland and promoted to the rank of corporal by the Minister of National Defence.
The ceremony forms part of the “Memory of the Order” project carried out by the Centre for Veterans of Operations Outside the State Borders. Its aim is to commemorate the burial places of holders of the Order of the Military Cross by placing the insignia of this decoration on their gravestones.
The Order of the Military Cross is one of the highest military decorations of the Republic of Poland. It is awarded for outstanding combat deeds and courage shown during actions against acts of terrorism outside the borders of the state. Since its establishment in 2006 fewer than 200 persons have received it, nearly 30 percent of them posthumously.
