– Osobiście nie jestem zwolennikiem uśmiercania zwierząt. Każdy, kto twierdzi inaczej, kłamie – deklaruje Sosiński. – Moje prywatne przekonania nie mogą jednak wpływać na bezpieczeństwo mieszkańców.
Miasto wystąpiło do powiatu o wydanie zgód na odstrzał do 10 dzików oraz odłowienie i uśmiercenie kolejnych 10 osobników. Jak podkreśla burmistrz, to działanie prewencyjne – zgody mają stanowić narzędzie gotowe do użycia w sytuacji realnego zagrożenia, ale nie oznaczają automatycznego rozpoczęcia „polowania na ulicach”.
Jednocześnie trwają prace nad metodami odstraszania dzików, w tym przy użyciu środków chemicznych. Burmistrz zaprasza mieszkańców do wyrażania opinii w tej sprawie, podkreślając, że zależy mu na dialogu opartym na faktach, a nie emocjach.

Sebastian Sosiński, the mayor of Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, has spoken out about the growing problem of wild boars in the city. On social media, he published nine facts intended to separate reality from rumors and speculation. The issue is generating significant emotions among residents.
– Wild boars are entering the city area, causing damage, and some of you feel threatened. I understand these concerns and take them seriously – acknowledges the mayor.
The mayor explains that the law – including regulations concerning African swine fever – strictly regulates the handling of wild boars. According to applicable procedures, these animals cannot simply be „caught and released elsewhere.” Only two methods are permissible: capture with the necessity of euthanasia to prevent health threats, or reduction through controlled culling.
– Personally, I am not in favor of killing animals. Anyone who claims otherwise is lying – declares Sosiński. – However, my personal beliefs cannot influence the safety of residents.
The city has applied to the county for permits to cull up to 10 wild boars and to capture and euthanize another 10 individuals. As the mayor emphasizes, this is a preventive action – the permits are intended to be a tool ready for use in a situation of real threat, but they do not automatically mean the start of „hunting in the streets.”
Simultaneously, work is underway on methods to deter wild boars, including the use of chemical agents. The mayor invites residents to express their opinions on this matter, stressing that he wants dialogue based on facts, not emotions.
