Drunk Hyundai driver caught after chase
A drunk 32-year-old driving a Hyundai created a danger on the road, making abrupt maneuvers and endangering other road users. When a witness tried to stop him, the driver smashed the window of the witness’s vehicle and fled. He was quickly stopped by an officer from the Legionowo traffic police.
The incident occurred on August 5, 2026, around 9:30 a.m. in the Wieliszew commune. The witness who had been following the dangerous car reported it to the police. The dispatcher immediately sent out the vehicle description and escape direction to all patrols in the area. An officer from the Traffic Department of the County Police Headquarters in Legionowo, who was on duty in Skrzeszew, located the Hyundai on Nowodworska Street, blocked its path and detained the driver.
A strong smell of alcohol was noticeable from the 32-year-old Warsaw resident. The man refused to follow orders, became aggressive, threatened the officer and insulted him with vulgar words. Investigators established that the 32-year-old is a martial arts instructor. He will face court for driving under the influence, damaging property, insulting a public official and making criminal threats. The proceedings are supervised by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legionowo.
The County Police Headquarters in Legionowo reminds that when we see a driver whose manner of driving suggests they may be under the influence of alcohol, we should call 112 and provide the make, color of the vehicle, registration number, direction of travel and the location where the car is. The police advise against trying to stop such a driver oneself.
