O godz. 10.00 w Parku Żywej Historii ruszy Piknik Historyczny, który potrwa do godz. 6.00 wiecz. Organizatorzy zapowiadają spotkania z historią i możliwość zobaczenia Twierdzy Modlin w historycznej odsłonie.

Również o godz. 10.00 rozpocznie się Turniej Piłki Nożnej o Puchar Obrońców Modlina.

O godz.

87 Years Since the Defense of Modlin. The Fortress Will Bring History to Life Again

Modlin Fortress will host commemorations marking the 87th anniversary of the Defense of Modlin this coming weekend. On September 19–20, 2026, the program will include patriotic ceremonies, a historical picnic, a soccer tournament, a historical reenactment, and a Mass for the Defenders of Modlin. The main events will take place Saturday at the Living History Park.

The Defense of Modlin in September 1939 remains one of the events permanently inscribed in the history of the city and Modlin Fortress. On its 87th anniversary, residents, visitors, and history enthusiasts will be able to participate in two days of events dedicated to the memory of the defenders.

The program will begin on Saturday, September 19, 2026. At 10:00 a.m., the Historical Picnic will open at the Living History Park and continue until 6:00 p.m. Organizers are promising encounters with history and an opportunity to experience Modlin Fortress from a historical perspective.

Also at 10:00 a.m., the Defenders of Modlin Cup Soccer Tournament will begin.

At 12:00 p.m., participants will gather at the Defenders of Modlin Monument for the main anniversary ceremony.

One of the most spectacular parts of the program will be the evening historical reenactment. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Living History Park on Obwodowa Street. The reenactment is intended to recall events associated with the defense of Modlin Fortress in September 1939.

The commemorations will continue on Sunday, September 20, 2026. At 10:30 a.m., a Mass for the Defenders of Modlin will be celebrated at St. Barbara Church in Modlin Fortress.

This year’s events also have additional significance because 2026 marks the 220th anniversary of Modlin Fortress. The commemoration of the 87th anniversary of the Defense of Modlin will provide another opportunity to recall the wartime history of the fortress and the people who defended it in September 1939.

Above all, the gathering at Modlin Fortress will pay tribute to its defenders. Eighty-seven years later, the memory of their struggle remains an important part of the historical identity of this place.
